Burgos Day 12
After 40km yesterday, I was intending to taxi into Burgos, but after looking at the map and checking with hotel staff, I was on the Camino; just the cycling route and it met up with the pilgrim route just a few km ahead. So not wanting to miss anything, I shouldered my pack and set off. I am so glad I chose to walk as I entered Burgos by walking an alternative route via the river park. It was just wonderful. Burgos is a vibrant and beautiful city, especially along the river that passes through it.
The main attraction in the city is the magnificent cathedral. The pictures
do not do it justice. Arriving around lunch time I had lunch in one of the many street cafe’s. It was nice to just chill and relax.
I then took a tour of the cathedral. Truly amazing art and well worth the entrance fee. I took quite a few pictures with my camera and not my phone so I only have a few to share of the inside.
I ran into several of the pilgrims who I have met on the Camino as they arrived in the city today.
I don’t think I posted about the 40 women from Iceland who were walking part if the Camino. I met one of them in Belorado at the laundry facility at the Albergue. I ran into her today and we chatted for a few minutes. Tonight is their last night before returning home.
My feet were a little sore this morning, but the blisters are healing up and I had no issues with the 15 km walk in today plus another 4 km walking around town.
Not sure I can top yesterday’s adventure so enjoy the pictures…
