Camino trip statistics as captured by my Jawbone Up3 fitness tracker
I thought it would be interesting to share the statistics that my Jawbone Up3 fitness tracker observed for this trip. The results are a bit surprising to me. Over the course of 42 days for this trip, I took over 1.13 million steps, covered 555 miles (893 KM) and burned a total 164,487 calories. During the trip I had 5 days were I walked more than 30 KM!
After returning home, I got on the scale and it shows that I lost 16 lbs. I am pretty sure I lost more than 20 during the trip, and put back on a few pounds after completing the walking portion of the trip. Its a bit hard to adjust the calorie intake for walking vs normal life.
Steps | Distance Miles | Distance KM | Calories Burned | |

After being back home for nearly a week, I am still recovering from jet-lag. The 9 hour difference in timezones has been a bit challenging to adjust too. If I was jet-lagged on the start of the trip, it was hard to notice that vs just plain being tired from walking 20 KM per day. 🙂
As I adjust to post-camino life, I do miss the Camino, and yes even the long walks. So much so that Lori and I walked 10 miles on Sunday.
And so, this likely will be my final Camino blog post. I started this blog to record my daily experiences and people I met etc. However, what I did not expect was to have so many family and friends read and enjoy this adventure with me. I am so thrilled that I was able to share this with you! Your words of encouragement inspired me; motivated me; and kept me connected to those that matter most in my life. Thank you so much for sharing this journey with me!
Some final words of wisdom from a Camino pilgrim:
Life is too short to waste precious moments on fear, hatred or jealousy. Be thankful for the small things in life: love, family, friends, joy and laughter. Life can be hectic and busy. Be sure to take a few moments, and lift your head up and look around. Otherwise, you might miss some of the best experiences of your life! Last but not least, do not allow fear to kill your dreams!
