Day 30 Tricastela

Today was a rough day terrain wise. 28 km up and down through the hills of Galicia. The morning was cool and down right foggy at the top of the mountain O Cebreiro. Good thing we waited to do that hill today. But that also meant we had to push on to get back on schedule. That meant a grueling 28km with the last 5 km steeply down. Steep downhills are hard on my old knees.

We were rewarded with some great views when the low clouds finally burned off. For most of the day we walked alone, but spent the last 3 km talking with Rodger from Ft. Worth Texas and Kevin from Vancouver BC. That helped take our minds off our aching bodies.

I heard from Marco who I walked with during the first week. He finished on 6/30 and flew back home to Switzerland today. Also heard from Joe, he is on the finish line and will be walking into the night tonight to finish.

The last 100km is when many people show up to walk for 5 days and receive their Compostela. ( Much like Lori is doing.) That puts a lot of pressure on the Albergue’s, many are full up. As in Joe’s case, he could not find a suitable place so he is just going to push on to finish.

We may be in similar situations as July has arrived and with it more pilgrims.
