Day 9 Santo Domingo
Up at 6AM and on the Camino again. Ventosa was a nice sleepy village surrounded by vineyards. Electing to stay one town short of the guide book schedule has its advantages of less crowded Albergue’s but it also means you have to put in the miles the next day to stay on schedule. So with blisters as my companions I set out with Santo Domingo as my target. Only 30 km (18 miles).
Today I walked with Moses. Moses from Korea that is…😀 we have seen each other multiple times but did not have a chance to talk until today. Moses has quite a summer planned. After doing the Camino he is off to Portugal, the Chec Republic and some other destinations I forgot.
On today’s journey the vineyards gave way to a mix of wheat fields and beans. Having been fortunate in life to not have to many allergies, the pollen from these wheat fields and other weeds along the trail can be overwhelming.
I spent much of today walking alone as most other pilgrims were an hour or two ahead following the guide book schedule. This gave me time to think and work on my own issues.
