Dinner with Scottish friends

Tonight I am staying at the Hospedería Cisterciense, which is a former convent converted to part nursing home and part Hotel. Hotel might be a stretch, but it’s clean and simply appointed. The nuns also run one of the Albergue’s in town and have a pilgrims meal at the Hospedería. I decided to give it s shot. Imagine my surprise when John and Joy from Scotland arrive. We shared a meal full of great conversation, allowing us more time to talk.

John and Joy are only walking to Burgos and have about a week left. They have walked parts of the Camino before Leon to Santiago… and are filling in the gaps every few years.

One thing I have learned about thus far on the Camino, is just when you think you are on this journey alone, a friend is just around the corner.
