New home for ‘da blog & new adventure

I’ve been meaning to move this site to a new home for sometime.  As some Google services have a tendency to disappear with little notice, I wanted to move my camino journal to a new home where I was in more control.   So, here it is.  Ta da!

As you may remember, I often stated that the camino has a way of changing people.  It certainly changed me!  Aside from many blisters, and more then a few pounds lost, it has had a profound impact on me.   The camino gave me a new perspective on life; less is more.  I learned to appreciate the simple, intangible things much more: family, friends, nature, life.   While its a bit hard to understand, the simple life of no-agenda, and only one task to complete each day: walk; brought clarity to my life.

This June marks two years since I walked the Camino Frances.  Hardly a week goes by without me thinking about something from that adventure.  It seems natural that something that changed me so deeply would bring back fond memories.  Yet, there is something more going on.  The camino is calling me back! I thought I could satisfy the longing by re-reading this blog.  While that helped, it also seemed to fuel the call back.  I thought I could satisfy the longing by watching camino Youtube videos.  That seemed to fill a short term “in-the-moment” experience, but the longing remains.  So in an attempt to fill this longing, I will return to walk a portion of the Camino Norte.   This time, Lori will also be walking!

The Camino Norte is the northern route.  It begins on the France-Spain border and follows the northern coast of Spain before turning inland to the destination of Santiago de Compostela.  Like the Camino Frances, it takes about 32-35 days to complete the journey to Santiago de Compostela.  We don’t have the luxury of that much time off, so our plan is to do this in stages.  We plan to walk about 14 days starting in Irun, and ending someplace near Santillana del Mar just east of Santander.

So perhaps you enjoyed following along? If so, I hope you will follow along and comment.

I’ll post more details soon.

Buen Camino
