Budapest – Salzburg Travel Day
We said goodbye to the Danube and Hungary this morning and boarded a high-speed train for Salzburg. The train ride still took 5 1/2 hours with 12 stops in between. The train topped out at 240 kph or ~ 150 mph. However, it only accomplished that for short periods in Austria. It’s been said before, but America could learn a thing or two about train travel from Europe.

After arriving in Salzburg we walked the 1.4 km to our hotel, stored our bags and walked into Salzburg. It’s nice to have a hotel close to the old town area where we can walk to restaurants and shops. We strolled around for a bit and found a nice Italian restaurant for dinner. After dinner we snapped a few pictures and walked back to our hotel.

We booked another walking tour for tomorrow, and on Tuesday we have a tour to go to Eagles Nest – Berchtesgarten – the hill top WWII Adolf Hitler retreat. We will also need to do some laundry again before we get back on the bikes for our final leg.
The weather looks to have rain on and off the next week or so. We are hoping that does not affect our cycling too much. We are in the shoulder season so it is to be expected. Nonetheless we would prefer sun. 🙂
No video today, just a few pics.
