Salzburg Rest Day 3 – Hohensalzburg Fortress
Our last day in Salzburg was a highlight! We visited the stunning Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of Europe’s largest and most intact castles. The early morning visit was perfect, with fewer crowds and plenty of time to snap some amazing photos. After exploring the fortress, we enjoyed a leisurely coffee at a hilltop cafe, soaking in the breathtaking views of the Austrian Alps and the lush fields below. It was a truly memorable experience.
Salzburg Rest Day 2 – Eagles Nest and Berchtesgaden
We enjoyed a fantastic day at the Eagles Nest and Berchtesgaden. The weather was perfect, and the views from the bus ride were breathtaking. It was a humbling experience to learn about the history of the area and how humanity can overcome evil.
Salzburg Rest Day 1
Salzburg is a city that truly captivates the heart. From its stunning palaces and gardens to its rich musical heritage, there’s so much to discover. We started our day with a peaceful stroll through the Mirabell Palace gardens, and later enjoyed a delicious Apple strudel. We also learned about the history of the city and its famous landmarks, including the Sound of Music spots and the homes of Mozart. Despite the delay in our laundry, we still had a great time exploring and making unforgettable memories.
Budapest – Salzburg Travel Day
We boarded a high-speed train from Hungary to Salzburg, enjoying the scenic ride with its 12 stops along the way. Despite the long journey, we’re excited for our next adventures, including a walking tour and a visit to the Eagles Nest.
Budapest Rest Day
Our guided walking tour of Budapest was an unforgettable experience, with Alexandra as our passionate guide. We explored iconic sites like St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Parliament Building, and learned about Hungarian history. The tour ended with a delightful lunch and a delicious chimney cake.
Esztergom – Budapest via train
We took the train from Esztergom to Budapest, which was a great decision despite the rain. The train was packed with school kids on some weekend adventure.
Komarom/Kormarno – Esztergom
A day for the unexpected. We unexpectedly had a chance to see the Esztergom Basilica and enjoy the rich countryside of Slovakia .
Gyor to Komaron/Komarno
It was a whirlwind of gravel paths and cobblestone roads as we traversed the Hungarian countryside, with our bikes taking us from Gyor to Komarno.
Bratislava to Gyor
We arrived in Gyor, a charming city with a rich history. We stayed in a former monastery and were surprised to find AC in our room. We also did some laundry and enjoyed a delicious dinner at a nearby restaurant.
