Today’s ride from Vienna to Bas Deutsch-Altenburg was a pleasant 46km journey along the Danube cycle path. Despite the flat terrain, the path was mostly paved, making it an easy ride for us. As we settled in for the night, we enjoyed the peaceful ambiance of the town and took a stroll through the local park.
Our day in Vienna started early with a visit to St. Stephan’s Cathedral, where we lit candles for our grandchildren and explored the beautiful public areas. After a short Uber ride to Schonbrunn Palace, we enjoyed an informative guided tour of the historic site, followed by a leisurely stroll through the vast gardens.
We set out from our hotel to Vienna on another 90+ km day, navigating through Krems and joining the Danube cycle path for a peaceful ride.
Today was an exciting journey with stunning landscapes and cultural landmarks. We visited the Melk Abbey and Durnstein, soaking in the beauty of the Wachau Valley. Despite the busy roads, the scenic views made the trip unforgettable.

Our adventure began with an early morning walk along the Inn’s river, capturing stunning photos of the three rivers convergence point. We then climbed the stairs and winding path to the Veste Oberhaus Fortress, marveling at its historical significance and breathtaking views. After exploring the fortress, we returned to the city to visit St. Stephan’s Cathedral, where we were captivated by the cathedral’s stunning frescos and the incredible lightning effects created by the incense during Mass.
