Budapest Rest Day
Good weather returned and we set out to seem some of Budapest’s sites. We scheduled a guided walking tour, of the two cities Buda and Pest. We ended up being the only two people on the tour – which gave us ample time to ask questions and get perspectives on various topics. Our guide Alexandra was amazing and is very passionate about her country. We learned a lot about Hungarian history. We visited St. Stephan’s Cathedral, the controversial WWII memorial, the Parliament building and the Castle District of Buda.

The tour took us across the river via the Budapest subway and bus, and concluded by walking back from the Buda Castle across the Chain bridge.
After the tour we had a delightful lunch in a nice restaurant near the Cathedral. We closed out the day by enjoying a popular local dessert, a chimney cake with ice cream.

Tomorrow we take a high-speed train to Salzburg to enjoy a few more days before starting the last leg of our cycling tour – the Alpe-Adria cycle path from Salzburg to Grado Italy.
