Esztergom – Budapest via train

With a wet day ahead of us we opted to take the train into Budapest from Esztergom vs riding 65 km and partial train ride.

We were glad we did. The rain picked up as we left Esztergom and it was a much cooler than it has been.

The train ride was packed with local school kids on some sort of weekend outing – which filled most of the train making it standing room only for the 12 stops in between Esztergom and Budapest.

The rest of the day was un-eventful, we located our hotel said good-bye to the bikes and wandered around a bit. Budapest is a bustling city full of noise, people and grit. We found some lunch/dinner at a nearby pizza place and settled back in at the hotel where we tied up some loose ends for accommodations in Salzburg and our eventual departure from Frankfurt. We have a walking tour planned for tomorrow where we expect to get some more history and experience Budapest on a dryer and warmer day.
