Obervellach – Spittal
We awoke to clear skies with a bit more chill in the air. Fall is on its way. After yesterday’s epic scenery we set off this morning at a lesurely pace, wanting to soak in the beauty. We cycled through side roads up and down into more Bavarian rolling hills. While the general elevation was down hill today, it was compensated by uphill sections before descents. We rode along the Moll river through stretches of forest and green valleys. The scenery reminded us of parts of North Cascades.

We stopped for coffee at a cyclist refreshment hut along the path and enjoyed coffee and we split a pastry. The sun as out and we were enjoying the views. We set off again and passed through some corn and sunflower fields before winding our way into more residential areas of Spittal. Before we knew it we had arrived at our destination for the day with time to spare.

We stowed the bikes at the odd Artistic Hotel and strolled to the pizzeria restaurant down the street. It’s Sunday so most everything is closed so our choices were limited. After lunch/dinner, we strolled around the local park and city near the hotel and finished off the afternoon with a dose of gelato.
Fewer pictures today, but they show off the beauty of the area.
