Regensburg Rest day

We enjoyed a welcome rest day in Regensburg. Which is the 4th largest Bavarian city after Munich, Nuremberg and Augsburg. It’s also a UNESCO world heritage site since 2006.

After breakfast we stopped by the Cathedral and another nearby church on the way to the laundromat.

With laundry out of the way, we headed down to the river to the legendary Regensburg Wurstkuchel sausage restaurant. We just had to try some of the local fare that has been served up there for centuries. We were not disappointed! We each got one and after consuming went back for a second! Tasty sausages, mustard, sauerkraut in a fresh bread roll. Yum. The restaurant is next to the Regensburg stone bridge is Germany’s oldest operational bridge across the Danube.

Afterwards we walked around the city window shopping the various shops. Next to our hotel is a Poushe Strudel and Coffee bar. I’ve been eyeballing the deserts each time we pass by, and after lunch we stopped in for a bite. Honestly they present well, and they were good, but it did not measure up to the Apple Strudel that we had yesterday at the Abbey. Regardless, we had no difficulty in making sure the plates were clean. 🙂

The weather has warmed up considerably today, approaching 85 degrees F. Similar weather is expected tomorrow with a thread of rain in the afternoon. We have another 95-100 km day ahead of us tomorrow so we are hoping to get an early start to take advantage of the cool morning.
